Honest assessment

Where SpringBig wins. Where it doesn't.

We move operators off SpringBig every month and we talk to their teams every week. Here's the honest scorecard, including the parts where they beat us.

SpringBig does this well
  • Deep POS coverage

First mover into the regulated-industries POS stack, Treez, Dutchie, Flowhub, BLAZE, COVA all integrate cleanly.

  • Brand-sponsored messaging

The Brands marketplace lets you offset SMS costs by accepting brand-paid sends. It works, even if your members get more spam.

  • Loyalty fundamentals

Points, tiers, redemptions, recap statements, all standard. A workhorse loyalty engine that's been battle-tested for years.

  • Brand recognition

If you're hiring a marketing manager from another dispensary, odds are they already know SpringBig. There's value in that.

Where it falls short in 2026
  • Per-location pricing can add up as you grow

In our experience, per-store add-ons mean each new location can raise your bill, even when it shares many customers with your existing stores. The more you scale, the more it can add up.

  • Drip-style automations, not visual flows

Autoconnects can fire on triggers, but you can't see the customer journey on a canvas, can't branch on conditions, can't model "wait then check" logic visually.

  • No native Apple/Google Wallet

Your loyalty card lives in their app, not in the wallet your customer already opens at the register. Every member you want carrying a card has to find it in an app store first.

  • Annual terms, in our experience

Every contract we've been shown ran a year. Want to try it for three months, or scale down in slow season? Read your own agreement before you assume you can.

  • Brand sends can dilute member trust

The Brands marketplace can pay your bills, but in our experience it can drive unsubscribes up. Your member sees you, then a brand they didn't choose, then you again, and your sender reputation can pay the price.

The bill you don't see at signup

Six lines to check on your own invoice.

We won't quote you someone else's prices. Pull up last month's bill and your signed agreement, then work down this list. These are the items operators tell us they missed at signup and found on month four.

Per-location surcharge
Triggers every time you open a new store
check yours
Find the per-location line and multiply it by the stores you plan to open this year. That is what growth costs you before you sell anything. Sticky has no per-store line item. Plans are tiered by the size of the operation, so opening a store inside your tier doesn't change your bill.
SMS overage credits
Top-up the month you actually send
check yours
Don't look at what's included. Look at the month you ran a 4/20 blast or a Saturday flash promo, and read the overage line. That is your real monthly cost, and it is the number to compare.
"Premium" loyalty features
Tier bumps, custom rewards, recap statements
check yours
Tiers, member recap emails, birthday point bumps. Check which of these sit on your invoice as a separate line and which you were told came with loyalty. On Sticky they are all in the base plan.
Native App module
White-label iOS / Android with your branding
check yours
Two numbers, side by side: what the app module costs you a year, and how many of your members have actually installed it. Sticky replaces the app with an Apple and Google Wallet pass, included in your plan, that installs in one tap.
Brands marketplace setup
Required to monetize brand sends
check yours
The pitch is that you earn money on brand sends. Find the revenue-share percentage in your agreement, then pull your unsubscribe rate for the months you ran them. Most operators we move decide the trade wasn't worth it.
Renewal date and notice period
The one to read before anything else
check yours
Two dates decide whether you can leave this year: when your term auto-renews, and how much written notice you owe before it does. Put both in your calendar today. We have watched operators miss the window by a week and spend another year paying for a decision they already made.
Now add them up
That total is your real monthly bill. It is the only number worth putting next to $999.

The migration package

Everything that lived in SpringBig comes with you.

Full member list

Names, phones, emails, birthdays, dispensary-specific custom fields. Deduped across your stores on the way in.

Loyalty balances

Every point your customers earned. Tier status. Redemption history. Balances reconciled and verified before cutover, so nobody loses a reward they were saving for.

Email templates

Our team rebuilds your top 10 in Sticky's editor, cleaner code, better deliverability, your exact brand.

Autoconnects & drips

Birthday sends, winback flows, welcome series, every SpringBig automation, ported to Sticky's Playmaker.

Tags & segments

Every tag and segment comes with its membership intact. We auto-suggest which ones can be replaced by Sticky's smart segments.

SMS short code & keywords

We coordinate with your carrier to port your short code and keywords. No signup-flow changes your customers will notice.

Opt-in trail & suppression

Every consent record, opt-in date, source, and channel. Your suppression list comes across intact, so anyone who opted out stays opted out.

POS connection & history

We rebuild your POS bridge (Treez, Dutchie, Flowhub, and the rest) and backfill 6 months of order history as standard, more if you can export it, so attribution works from day one.

Roles & team access

Mirror your SpringBig user roles in Sticky. Marketing managers, budtenders, GMs, each gets the same permissions they had.

Case study · 18 stores · first 100 days

One real program beats five quotes you can't check.

Farmer Jane runs 18 dispensaries across Saskatchewan and Manitoba, in a market where inducement rules take the visit-based punch card off the table. They launched a spend-linked wallet program instead. Over the first 100 days, their loyalty members spent 18.5% more per order and came back 3.3 days sooner than everyone else.

Figures from the joint Farmer Jane and Sticky 100-day performance review. Farmer Jane came to us from a punch card, not from SpringBig. We'd rather tell you that than dress it up as a migration story.

Philosophy

Everything in one place, on one bill.

SpringBig grew by adding products. Loyalty is a module. Brands is a module. The app is a module. Each priced separately, each with its own screen to learn. We took the opposite path: one product, everything in the base plan, nothing to switch on later.

One product, not nine

Loyalty, SMS, email, push, plays, referrals, attribution, all share one customer record, one event stream, one billing line. Configuration in one place.

No per-store surcharge

You pay for messages sent and members served, never a line item per building or per module. Plans are tiered by the size of the operation, so opening a store inside your tier doesn't change your bill. See pricing for where the tiers sit.

Your member list is yours

We do not run a brand-paid messaging marketplace and we do not sell access to your member list. Nobody messages your customers but you. Your sender reputation belongs to you.

Support is your CSM, not a queue

Every account gets a named CSM from day one. First response under 2 hours, usually within 20 minutes.

Month-to-month, not 12 months

Annual plans are available at a discount and are never required. No auto-renewal to catch you out and no notice period to miss. Cancel any time. We'd rather earn you monthly than trap you annually.

Run your own numbers

See what you'd save on Sticky.

Plug in your store count and member count and you'll see what Sticky costs you. Put last month's invoice next to it. We don't need access to your SpringBig portal to do any of this, and if the math doesn't work on your stores, don't switch.

Frequently asked

Common questions about switching.

I'm locked into a SpringBig annual contract. Can I still switch?

Yes, but let's be straight about the cost. We don't pay off your contract and we don't run free alongside it, so switching before your renewal date means paying both of us for a stretch. Most operators start the migration close to renewal instead, so the two line up. Find your renewal date and your notice period first, then talk to us. That order saves you money.

Will my customers notice?

Only in a good way. Same short code. Same loyalty balances. Same sender name. Their wallet cards upgrade to Apple Wallet, which they actually use. The new templates are sharper. Opt-out is preserved byte-for-byte.

How are loyalty balances preserved exactly?

We pull the SpringBig loyalty ledger (points, tier, lifetime spend) and import it into Sticky's member record. You pick your point-value mapping. We generate a before/after reconciliation report and share it with you before cutover.

What happens to my SpringBig native app?

If you want to keep it running, we leave it alone. You can keep the app as a thin client and pipe push notifications through Sticky. Most operators retire it and move members to the wallet pass instead, because there's nothing to download and nothing to update. Either way, we help you message your member base about the change.

Can I keep the Brands marketplace revenue?

No, by design. Sticky does not run a brand-paid messaging marketplace. If that revenue is load-bearing for you, say so on the call and we'll model what replacing it with first-party campaigns looks like on your numbers. If it doesn't come out ahead, we'll tell you.

What if it goes badly? Can I go back?

You're month to month, so the worst case is you leave. No contract to unwind, no notice period to serve, no exit fee. That is the whole answer, and it's the reason we don't dangle a refund window at you: you were never locked in to need one.

Do I need to retrain my budtenders or marketing team?

Budtenders need ~5 minutes, the loyalty-lookup flow at POS is nearly identical. Marketing teams typically run their first send on Sticky on day 3, with a CSM on a screenshare. We host two recorded train-ups every week and offer 1:1 sessions on demand.

Is Sticky compliant for cannabis-specific regulations?

Sticky handles it: carrier-approved 10DLC and short-code routes, AI content filtering that flags state-specific risks (no images in MA, age-gating in IL, etc.), and suppression tooling for THC-promoting language in restricted zones. See our compliance guide.
